“Itím” is the Tagalog word for black (color) in English.

ℹ️ (from the exhibit caption) The tamaraw is the Philippines’ largest native land animal, inhabiting Occidental Mindoro’s abundant grasslands and secondary successional forests. Its habitation is restricted in the interior mountainous areas Mindoro, along the forest edges of Mt. Iglit-Baco National Park, Mt. Aruyan and Mt. Calavite, where forage, water, and cover are easily accessible. This mammal has an approximate total body length of 220 centimeters, with a tail length of around 60 centimeters. The horns of the male tamaraw are longer, thicker and more flattened than the female. The species is threatened by habitat loss due to the conversion of the forests to agricultural lands.
